The Christmas tree has been stowed and the lights are down and it is a New Year!! We have had a very busy and joyous holiday season with family and friends that have made the journey to the Caribbean to be with us. Steven’s family spent the holidays at the Ritz Carlton in St Thomas and we were moored a harbor away at Red Hook. It was wonderful being able to spend time with them and our only regret was their departure was too soon. It was a treat for us to dine at the Ritz every night as it was a nice change from the Seabird Cuisine!! Our friends Kathy and Andy arrived before New Years to carry on a 20 year old tradition of spending New Years Eve together. We planned a repeat of 1997 when we were at Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke to bring in the New Year. That year was a wild one in the harbor and we were a little concerned about having our own boat there but were quite surprised that it was not nearly as busy or wild in 2005 as it was eight years earlier which suited us just fine as we were not as wild either!! We all had a great week cruising all our favorite islands and partaking in the local food and drink. It will be interesting to see where we will all be for New Years Eve 2006. Our last visitors were the biggest surprise of all only because they actually made it to the Islands and had a real vacation. We were thrilled to spend time with John, Ellyssa, Olivia and Eve and have the opportunity to share our new life style with them. Hopefully we have convinced them that an annual vacation to visit us is good for the soul!! The girls swam in the ocean and learned to snorkel and we all had great fun exploring St Johns. No trip to the Virgin Islands is complete without a trip to Foxy’s and to Skinny Legs and now they have T Shirts that say they were there. Right now we are moored at the Bitter End in Virgin Gorda. We plan to have a leisurely week of maintenance and repairs before heading off for ?????? Yes we are still on Island Time. Happy New Years |
